The Big Pink formed over jealousy. Not the usual jealous boyfriend variety, but an envy that stemmed from a record label boss wishing he could be a rock star himself.
Milo Cordell is one half of The Big Pink, and label manager to electro punk Merok Records (home to early releases from Telepathe and Salem). He explained to Clash Music: "I’d never wanted to be in a band before, but then when I started the label I got a little jealous watching all my mates go off and do really well - then we went on tour and it was fucking great".
Since their early touring adventures in 2007, The Big Pink have recently supported larger than life TV on the Radio and gutter garage band Black Acid. Things have turned to terrific since The Big Pink scored a signing of their own, to the shithot 4AD. They also picked up a NME Best New Music Award.
The Big Pink's quasi blend of Aphex Twin, The Breakfast Club and early New Order is about to take off. And we're very, very excited indeed.
